Window onto the World

In its "Window onto the World" series, after last year's Senegal opening, the Usedomer Musikfestival now presents fascinating sounds from Panama. Together with musicians of the Baltic Sea Philharmonic, the Panama Festival Ensemble builds a musical bridge between classical tradition and the rhythmic soul of Latin America.

Under the direction of cellist Isaac Casal, the quintet performs, among others, the passionate works of Astor Piazzolla. With a line-up of cello, violins, double bass and percussion, the ensemble fuses the highest virtuosity with the energy of tango — a dynamic dialogue that boldly expands the boundaries of chamber music.
