Ingmar Bergman: Sunday's Children (reading; from the Swedish, German translation by Verena Reichel, Kiepenheuer & Witsch 1996)
Wilhelm Peterson-Berger · Gustaf Hägg · Felix Körling: Swedish piano music
At the Cannes International Film Festival in 1997, Ingmar Bergman was honoured as „Best Film Director of All Time". In his long career he had previously won several Oscars.
In the summer of 1990 he wrote his novel „Sunday's Children" about the summer of 1926 and the troubled relationship of his parents — seen from his own perspective as an eight-year-old boy. Daniel Bergman, the son of Ingmar Bergman and Käbi Laretei, adapted the book for film shortly afterwards.
In the late-Romantic piano music from Sweden, the atmosphere of summer landscapes, churchgoing and a respectable middle-class summer house comes back to life.
