Every Hanseatic town has a Marienkirche — a Church of St Mary — for Mary, the mother of Jesus, is the patron saint of sailors. As „Stella Maris", „Star of the Sea", Mary was invoked for help by the sailors of Europe in the Middle Ages.

With Swedish folk melodies and medieval chants, Helena Ek — a sought-after singer of the Swedish early-music scene with engagements at the Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble and the Stockholm Baroque Orchestra — and Anna Maria Friman, co-founder of the ECM-Records ensemble Trio Mediæval, take us on a journey across the seas of Europe — at the end of which lie reflection and inner repose.
