Wilhelm Stenhammar: Late Summer Nights op. 33

Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano works

Johannes Brahms: Piano works

and others

Summer, sun, light and night play a major role in the music of Sweden. Wilhelm Stenhammar's „Late Summer Nights" stand close to the sonically robust, broodingly melancholic world of Johannes Brahms.

The pianist and composer Niklas Sivelöv — born in Skellefteå in northern Sweden and today a professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen — is one of the most prominent ambassadors of Swedish music in Europe. His Stenhammar recordings, honoured with numerous awards, are considered the benchmark, and his performing career takes him from Carnegie Hall to the Leipzig Gewandhaus, alongside conductors such as Esa-Pekka Salonen and Alan Gilbert. For his services to music, the Queen of Denmark made him a Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog.
